Donald Richie, an American expatriate and a leading authority on Japanese film and culture, died Feb. 19 at a Tokyo hospital. He was 88.
A prolific author, Mr. Richie’s books gave overseas readers insights into Japanese film and culture. For many years, he helped edit “JAPANESE FILM,” which was published annually by UNIJAPAN.
We extend our sincere condolences for the loss of one of the most renowned and ardent supporters of Japanese films.
