Pioneers of Japanese Animation: Digitally Restored Masterpieces
(60th Anniversary of Japan Association of Audiovisual Producers, Inc.)
Three historical masterpieces of animation will come back to the screen in high quality. In addition, a newly-found first work by Noburo Ofuji, Noroma na jiji(1924), and a test version of his uncompletes film, Taketori Monogatari (Princess Kaguya) (1961), will also be screened. All films in 35mm.

Bunka-Cho Film Week 2013
“Bunka-Cho Film Week” will award excellent documentaries and individuals in recognition of their long years of distinguished service to the film industry. The project will also hold symposiums and screenings to offeropportunities for people involed with films in differing capacities to gather together.

The 53rd winner of the Directors Guild of Japan’s prestigious New Directors Award will screen, followed by a discussion of the future of film with the director and foreign directors at TIFF.

Cinema for Everybody – A Symposium on Cinema Accessibility and Potentials of Disabled-access Screenings
A TIFF Special Screenings film will be screened with full disability access. Screening will be equipped with the world’s first display system, and a symposium will be held with people with visual and hearing disabilities and the film director.
