26th TIFF selects “Norte, The End of History” for World Focus section.
The renewal World Focus section is going to have a screening of “Norte, The End of History” directed by the Filipino director Lav Diaz, which is co-presented by Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival.

“Norte, The End of History”
Lav Diaz takes a hard look at his country and how its history of impunity has led it to the brink of collapse.
The film was also shown at
Cannes Film Festival (Un Certain Regard section)
Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (Another View section) and
Locarno International Film Festival (The Films of the Juries program).

World Focus [Renewal]
Must-see films that were acclaimed at various international film festivals
The World Focus section showcases important films by noted directors that have recently been completed but not yet released in Japan. The section features films that have created a sensation on the international film festival circuit. The World Focus section also will present outstanding films from Asia as well as Europe and the United States. More than half of the films screened in the former World Cinema section were later shown at theaters in Japan. The new World Focus section will be a showcase for internationally acclaimed films.
